As a company with our roots firmly in Africa, we are proud to announce our support for a remarkable charity organization, World Bicycle Relief, to help empower communities in Africa through the transformative power of bicycles. In rural Africa a bicycle is more than just a recreational activity, but rather it can mean access to education, healthcare, employment and more. We are so excited to be working with World Bicycle Relief to help change the world, one pedal stroke at a time. To celebrate our partnership we will be donating $10 to World Bicycle Relief for every $50 spent online between now and May 31, 2023.
Who is World Bicycle Relief?
World Bicycle Relief is a global non-profit organization that believes in the power of bicycles to uplift communities and create sustainable change. Founded in 2005, WBR envisions a world where distance is no longer a barrier to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. By providing rugged, purpose-built bicycles to individuals in need, WBR aims to improve access to education, healthcare, and economic empowerment.
Africa, with its vast landscapes and diverse communities, faces numerous challenges due to limited access to basic services. WBR's work in Africa is especially significant, given the continent's vast rural areas where people often walk long distances to access education, healthcare, and other essential resources. By providing bicycles to these communities, WBR has made a profound impact on countless lives.
Access to education is a fundamental right that should not be hindered by geographical constraints. WBR recognizes the transformative power of education and has provided bicycles to students, enabling them to travel to school quickly and safely. By reducing travel time, children can attend school regularly, leading to improved academic performance and increased opportunities for their future.
In remote African communities, access to healthcare is often limited, and people have to travel long distances to receive medical attention. WBR has partnered with healthcare organizations to distribute bicycles to healthcare workers, enabling them to reach patients more efficiently. These bicycles serve as mobile clinics, bringing medical aid and services to those who need it the most. Timely access to healthcare has led to improved health outcomes and saved countless lives.
In regions where economic opportunities are scarce, bicycles have become a catalyst for change. WBR's Bicycle Mechanics Training Program equips individuals with skills in bicycle repair and maintenance, enabling them to establish their own businesses and support their families. By fostering entrepreneurship and creating self-sustaining economies, WBR is breaking the cycle of poverty and empowering communities to thrive.
As a proudly South African cycling brand, CIOVITA, share a deep connection with the work of World Bicycle Relief.
